RAMSEY – Bedford North Lawrence senior Autumn Spence finished fifth individually and the Stars were an impressive fifth in a 16-team field during the annual North Harrison Invitational girls cross country race on Thursday.
Spence crossed the line in 21:21.2, helping the Stars score 135 points.
Jasper won the team title with 41 points while Charlestown was second with 99.
BNL’s Grace Tanksley was ninth overall in 21:52.0 while Myra Roberts was 33rd in 24:06.0.
“It was an extremely good meet for us across the board,” BNL coach Jill Vance said. “Every single person dropped significant time.
“Obviously Autumn and Grace’s top 10 finishes were huge for us. But we would not have been in the top five without freshman Ella Peek. She had a real breakthrough race, dropping three full minutes off her time (26:41.9). We were a podium team because of her.”
Jasper swept the top three spots as Andi Vanmeter was the individual champion in 19:31.4.
BNL will compete in the Brown County Invitational on Sept. 12.
