JEFFERSONVILLE – Kevin Castro scored two goals while powering Jeffersonville to a 5-1 victory over Bedford North Lawrence during boys high school soccer action on Saturday.
Castro scored the opening goal at 15:21 off a Josh Walter assist, and Walter added the second goal at 30:51.
Konnor Kimble extended the Jeffersonville lead with a goal at 13:00 of the second half, but the Stars answered with a goal by Josh Anderson at 15:31.
BNL’s Gavin Green was awarded a free kick, and he found Reece Terrell in front of the goal. Terrell headed the ball to Anderson, who settled and connected from six yards.
The Red Devils (7-1, 4-1 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) pulled away late as Castro scored again (off a Renaldo Lawrence pass) at 35:13, and Lawrence capped the scoring with his own goal at 38:00.
“We got within 3-1, then they scored twice as we wore down,” BNL coach Logan Jackson said. “They were very fast and athletic. We played pretty well, so we can’t be too upset with that.”
BNL (6-7, 1-4) will host Brown County on Monday and celebrate Senior Night.
