(MITCHELL) – The Mitchell American Legion Cecil C. Martin Post 250 raised $1,000 during their 200 mile annual memory ride on Saturday.
According to ALR Director Greg Allen the ride honored fallen American Legionnaires, auxiliary members, and Sons of Legionnaires.
All of the funds will be used to purchase items to fill Christmas care packages that are delivered to local veterans in Lawrence County nursing homes.

“Special shout outs and thanks to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police that went above and beyond to escort us and keep us safe on our ride Saturday. We had a great turnout,” said Allen. “We had a wonderful 200 mile ride to visit posts and other veterans to bring awareness of our community and our local veterans to other areas. I’d also like to thank Mooresville American Legion, Martinsville American Legion, and Worthington American Legion for a great welcome, excellent service and the donations that they made as well thanks again WBIW team for always having our back and spreading the good word of the local veterans.”
