Monroe County YMCA Accepting Membership Financial Assistance Applications Through Nov. 30

(BLOOMINGTON) – The Monroe County Y is accepting Financial Assistance applications for Y 2021 memberships through the end of the day on November 30, 2020.

Financial assistance applications for Y memberships are accepted in November each year and awarded for the following calendar year.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has put even more financial strain on families and individuals, and the Y is here to help.

While the generosity of donors allows the Y to provide assistance to hundreds of families and individuals, the Y anticipates the levels of giving will be lower than years past due to the pandemic’s financial implications on many in our community and as needs increase. With this in mind, the Y is doing everything it can to help. If you would like Y membership support for the 2021 calendar year, please consider applying to the Financial Assistance program.

Y Membership Financial Assistance has the ability to profoundly impact our Monroe County neighbors’ health and wellness in their greatest time of need. The Y is incredibly thankful to donors for their support, as assistance wouldn’t be possible without their unyielding generosity. Funds are raised during Y for all events held throughout the year, such as the Gala this past October.

Ongoing donations through staff-giving and member donations also help support the Y’s cause.

Greg is one of our Monroe County neighbors and Y members who received membership aid for the 2020 year.

He shared: “I want to thank you so much for financial assistance. I have a mental disability, and I am unable to work. The financial assistance has allowed me to exercise regularly. I love working out and am seeing the obvious results. I am so much healthier—I have lost 67.1 pounds at this time thanks to my YMCA membership and workouts. I hope to lose even more weight. Due to the Coronavirus, I missed my workouts, but I have resumed them and am getting stronger again. Thank you again for the 2020 assistance.”

Financial Assistance applications for membership will only be accepted through the end of the day on November 30, 2020.
