(BEDFORD) – A Bloomington man was arrested after Bedford Police officers received a report of a suspicious male.
Police arrested 40-year-old Jeremy Blackwell, of Bloomington, on charges of dealing in a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a probable cause affidavit, on Monday at 10:23 p.m. officers were called to the area of 25th Street and Washington Avenue after a report of a suspicious male in the area.
The caller told police the male attempted to sell him Clonazepam. The man also asked him directions to a gas station and started walking away from the caller toward Circle K.
Officers located the male walking north on P Street from 23rd Street. Police stopped the man who said his name was Jeremy Blackwell.
Police told Blackwell why they stopped him and he said he had just asked the other male how to get to the nearest gas station. He denied offering to sell the man any drugs.
He was then asked if he had anything illegal on him and Blackwell said no and gave the officers consent to search his person but refused to allow the officers to search his backpack.Â
K-9 officer Zazu alerted officer to drugs in the backpack. Inside the backpack officers found two syringes, an orange/black smoking device containing burnt marijuana residue, a metal tin containing a plastic bag with a crystal-like substance that tested positive for meth, and five round green pills marked “TEVA 833”. Â
Jeremy was arrested, transported to the Bedford Police Department for processing, and was then taken to the Lawrence County Jail for housing.
