GALENA – Bedford North Lawrence finished sixth in the boys Hoosier Hills Conference meet at Floyd Central on Saturday.
The Stars totaled 141 points. Floyd Central won the team championship with 247 points, followed by Columbus East (221) and New Albany (204).
John Allen was BNL’s top finisher as he took third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.25). Cole Baker was fourth in the 50 free (23.23) and fifth in the 100 backstroke (59.92).
Alexander Swenson was fourth in the 500 free (season-best 5:12.42) and Kade Bailey was fifth in diving with 302.05 points.
“The conference is loaded with great swimmers this year,” BNL coach Adam Young said. “Overall, times were in line with what I would expect at this point in the season. We had a few season bests and a few lifetime bests. We’re still a week from the start of tapering and resting for sectional.
“Cole, John and Alexander had some great swims and some of their fastest times of the season. All things considered this season, I am pleased with where we are at right now. One of our seniors, Isaac Williams, was unavailable today due to quarantine and he was missed. We hope to have him back for the sectional.”
BNL’s girls will compete in the IHSAA sectional at Jasper on Feb. 6.
