Pamela Elaine (Mitchell) Deckard, 70, of Bedford went to her Heavenly reward on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 14, 1950, in Lawrence Co., the daughter of Fred and Mary Jean (George) Mitchell. She married the love of her life, Danny L. Deckard, and he survives.
Pam was a teacher. She first taught as a summer kindergarten teacher at the old Williams school. She later taught in the North Lawrence Community School System, first at Tunnelton Elementary, and finished her career at Springville Elementary.
Pam was a devout follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of New Union Christian Church where she served as a Sunday
Schoolteacher and served as a children’s church volunteer and Vacation Bible School teacher. Pam’s favorite verse in her later years was in Psalms 73. “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Survivors include her husband, Danny; a daughter, Melanie Johnson; a son, Matthew (Sandy) Deckard; grandchildren, Amber (Kyle) Hatfield, Kyla Deckard, Cheylee Jones, Zayden Turner, Zindayiah Jones, and Kaysin Jones; a brother, Rick (Judy) Mitchell and their son, Derek Chad Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Jeffrey Lyle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Mike French officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
