Carrie Lou Spires, 65, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at I.U. Health Hospital in Bedford.
She was born in Lawrence County to Mildred (Johnson) Sykes and Chet
Sykes. She married Tony Spires and he preceded her in death in 2012.
Carrie was a graduate of Bedford High School and a health care worker at Garden Villa for more than 20 years.
Surviving to cherish Carrie’s memory are her two sons, Joseph Hignite and Stephen Fitzgerald; siblings, Wanda Stewart, Betty Kern, Lester Treece, Dallas (Betty) Sykes, Shirley (Andy) Nelson, Donna (Casey) Clark, Faye (David) Spicer and James Sykes; and several nieces and
nephews.
Preceding Carrie in death was her husband, Tony; and one sister, Pam Sykes
Cremation was chosen and there will be no services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes.
