Two Springville residents arrested on burglary and theft charges

AVOCA – Two Springville residents were arrested on burglary and theft charges Thursday after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence in the Graves Addition, where the two were found in the home by the property owners.

Brandy D. Baker, age 47, Springville, was arrested for burglary, theft, possession of schedule iv controlled substance, possession of marijuana. Devyn Ray Arnold, age 22 Springville, was arrested for burglary and theft under $750.

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of Graves Addition Road after the property owners found Baker and Arnold in the home.

When discovered, Arnold broke the front glass out of a storm door and ran from the home. Baker also ran out of the home, however,the homeowners were able to detain her.

Police arrived, and was able to talk to Baker. They were also able to locate several items that belonged inside the home, identified by the homeowners.

During the search of Baker, police found a black plastic container that contained three carisoprodol 350 mg and a small amount of a green leafy substance that field-tested to be marijuana.

Arnold was found in vehicle that was parked across the street from were the burglary took place. Arnold admitted to the officers that the two had been inside the residence. The two gained access to the home by locating keys outside the home.

Both were arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
