William Alfred Lynch (Bill), 90, 315 West Third Street, Connersville, Indiana, died on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Courtyard Manor in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
He was born January 24, 1931, to George W Lynch and Leola I. Smith in Mitchell, Indiana.
On September 18, 1952, he married the love of his life, Mary Helen Baker, in Mitchell, IN. They met and attended Junior High and High School in Mitchell. Bill worked in the Kroger meat department in Mitchell all through high school. He was an Army veteran having served from 1951 until 1953. He was honorably discharged from the Army, then attended and graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. After working and living in the Cincinnati area for six years after graduation, he moved his family to Connersville, In. in 1964. He worked as an industrial engineer at H.H. Robertson for seven years and at Design and Manufacturing until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement, he was a devoted caretaker of his wife for many years.
When Bill was a young man, he was known as one of the top pool players in Mitchell. Well into his retirement, he continued to enjoy playing pool and spent countless hours practicing trick shots. He loved listening to music and had an extensive and eclectic collection of music. He was a devoted pet owner caring for many cats and dogs over the course of his lifetime. When he wanted a break from the duties of home, he enjoyed riding on his Honda Motor Scooter. He and his wife were members of Central Christian Church in Connersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew, Jason Quarles, his wife of 66 years, Mary Helen and his son, Stephen Baker Lynch. Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Cheryl Wickham (Mark) of Brighton, MI.; Pamela Faith Binge of Naples, FL.; and a son, William P. Lynch of Richmond, IN. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Taira Lynch and Keisha Klein (Benjamin); Dustin and Brian Binge, Carly Bromley (Chad); Andrew (Kit) and Hannah Wickham; and one great grandchild, Zoey Klein. Also surviving are his brother, Jerry Williams, his sister Kathy Quarles (Ed), and nephews Gary Williams (Cheryl), Rocky (Michelle) and Brandon (Kyria) Quarles.
Funeral Services will be May 15 at Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell, In. Visitation will be at 10 am with a service at 11. Burial will be at Sheeks Cemetery in Lawrence County, IN.
