Rowanna Mae Lupher, 95, Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at her home.
Born June 26, 1925, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Claude and Mary Nettie (Fields) Chastain. She married Ronald Edmund Lupher September 7, 1957, and he preceded her in death August 29, 1989.
Rowanna had been employed at Trav-Ler Radio Corporation, M. Fines & Son, and RCA.
She was a 90-year member of the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene and Sunday school teacher for 50 years. Rowanna also volunteered at Mitchell Manor. She was a 1945 graduate of Mitchell High School.
Rowanna was a wonderful mother who loved her kids and grandkids. She was a devoted Christian and will be missed by all.
Survivors include her son, Ronald P. (Dawn) Lupher of Mitchell; daughters, Karla J. (Greg Archer) Wininger of French Lick, Darla A. (Larry) Schneider Jones of Mitchell; grandchildren, Kerstin (Jim) Hart, Nicholas (Chrissy) Street, Jessica Wininger, Justin (Randi) Wininger, Jason (Christyna) Wininger, and RJ Ronald Lupher; great-grandchildren, Aurora Frank, Lily Street, Emma Cougler, Kaylee Brooking, and Avery Wininger
Her parents; husband; and siblings, Curtis Eugene Chastain, Pauline LaVerne Wilkinson, Rev. Claude Chastain, Jr., and Marilyn Madge Cauble, preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Steve Hale officiating. The burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the church.
