BEDFORD – Bedford Firefighters Local 728 awarded three scholarships Thursday night.
The three scholarships were a total of $1,750.
- Brynlea Bennett – Tom Silvers Memorial Scholarship- $750
- Kacy Zoller – Bedford Firefighters Association Local 728 Scholarship- $500
- Chloe Spires – Bedford Firefighters Association Local 728 Scholarship- $500
Kacy will be attending Western Kentucky University to study Dental Hygiene. She is the daughter of Lt. Zac Zoller and Kerry Zoller.
“It was great, and I am really appreciative of this scholarship,” said Kacy Zoller after receiving the scholarship.
Chloe Spires received the Bedford Firefighters Association Local 728 Scholarship. She will be attending Indiana University to study Pharmacology. She is the daughter of Justin Spires and Brooke Spires.
The Local 728 wants to thank all of those who came out and supported these young ladies tonight. A special thanks to Mayor Sam Craig, Senator Eric Koch, Councilman Dan Bortner, Councilwoman Judy Carlisle, and Fire Chief John Hughes for their support in our effort to make our community a better place.
Scholarships were funded by doing fundraisers.
Local 728 will be hosting our next fundraiser on October 2nd, 2021 at Otis Park Golf Course for the 2nd annual Bedford Local 728 Firefighters Open. Event and hole sponsors will be accepted beginning in July. Event information will be released at that time.
Last year’s scramble raised close to $7,000. The scramble helped with 3 scholarships, 31 Kids Christmas’s, Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services, Otis Park Golf Course, and several area families that fell victim to fires last year.
