Charles “Charlie” Pruitt, 75, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at his residence. Born on May 7, 1946, he was the son of Charles William Pruitt and Kathleen (Deckard) Pruitt. He married Theresa Bassinger on July 13, 1967, and she preceded him in death on December 24, 2005.
Charlie retired from G.E., was the owner of Charlies Fireworks, and former owner of Bedford Video. He was of the Christian faith and was known as Bedford’s “King of Fireworks”. He attended Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis. Charlie and his sister Jane always had a special bond.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Charlie are his children, Rob (Sonja Barnett) Pruitt and Donna(Kenny) Clark; five grandchildren, Brittany Walker, Logan Pruitt, Josh, Levi, and Kayla Clark; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane (Bennie) Hackney and Zelda “Kay” Milam; his significant other, Delores “Dee” Phillips; along with several nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Theresa; and a sister, Donna Lee Pruitt.
Funeral services for Charles “Charlie” Pruitt will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 1pm at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Phil Thorne officiating. Burial will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Monday, also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
