BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a six-day-old infant.
According to Sheriff Mike Branham, the father of the child went to check on the baby and found the baby unresponsive. The baby was rushed to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital where the baby was pronounced dead.
“We do not really know what happened,” said Sheriff Branham. “We are waiting on the results of the autopsy report.”
Officers did serve a search warrant at a home on Dixie Highway.
“That is standard procedure,” added Sheriff Branham. “We found nothing suspicious and don’t suspect foul play.”
