CARMEL – Bedford North Lawrence junior Trevin Hutchinson carded a 91 in the first round of the IHSAA golf state finals at Prairire View Golf Club on Tuesday.
Hutchinson couldn’t avoid big numbers, recording five pars, while finishing tied for 92nd in the field. He will tee off in the second and final round on Wednesday.
Starting on the back nine, Hutchinson opened with pars on the 11th and 12th holes. He followed with a string of bogeys and a triple on the par-5 18th hole to shoot 45 on the back. After pars on the first two holes of the front, he suffered a quadruple bogey on the par-5 3rd hole and shot 46 on the front side.
Peru’s Kash Bellar took the individual lead with a 3-under 69 that included four birdies. Carmel and Guerin Catholic shared the first-round team lead with 301 totals, while Center Grove was three shots back at 304.
