BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Playwrights Project held the 2021 MiniPlay Contest which invited students in 3rd-12th grades to participate and write a short play on the topic of “Magic is Everywhere”.
BPP officials selected the best plays, based on how well the playwrights crafted an original story, characters, and setting based upon the provided theme.
Here are the winners from the Monroe County Community School Corporation:
2nd Place – 3rd-5th Grade
Landon Smith is a fourth grade student at University Elementary School. He enjoys cooking, fishing, swimming, and traveling. In addition to writing mini-plays, Landon also expresses his creativity through drawing and building Legos. Landon currently plans on pursing a career in the field of engineering or science when he grows up. He would like to thank his parents for their love and support and his teachers for all they have taught him.

3rd Place – 3rd-5th Grade
Rory Kopp is a fourth grade student at University Elementary School. She enjoys watching anime and learning about other cultures. Her favorite anime’s are Hanako and My Hero Academia. She is a free and creative spirit who enjoys making art, writing stories, signing, and playing with her cat Daisy.

1st Place – 9th-12th Grade
Trinity Kessinger is a fun, loving, and creative person that never runs out of ideas. She is a sophomore at The Academy of Science & Entrepreneurship and wishes to go into the field of forensic science. Her favorite things are Coffee Monsters, anime, and skateboarding. She has always loved being a part of theater (favorite part is the costumes), but this is her first ever written play!
