Joyce Maxine Greenwell, 88, of Shoals, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, at Cedarhurst of Bloomington.
Born May 19, 1933, in Shoals, IN, she was the daughter of John and Opal (Bledsoe) Fawcett. She married Kenneth Raymond Greenwell, and he preceded her in death in October 1971. Maxine was a graduate of Shoals High School with the Class of 1951. She retired from Crane (CAAA) in June 1988 after 35 years of federal service. After retirement from Crane, Maxine worked for Schilli Transportation for several years.
Maxine was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals to share. She especially enjoyed cooking for
her family, friends, and her “Schilli Boys.”
Maxine was a longtime member of Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church where she served as church treasurer for many years. She later attended Hindostan United Methodist Church.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children Greg (Madelyn) Souerdike of Indianapolis, Michol Jones of Shoals, and Stephanie Greenwell of Bloomington. Grandchildren Travis Souerdike, twin grandsons Caleb and Cole Baker, great-grandchildren Brayden Souerdike, and Elizabeth Souerdike; sister, Dora Bardwell of Huntingburg, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Faye Shobe.
Cremation was chosen, and a celebration of life service will be planned for a later date.
