BEDFORD – A Texas woman was arrested on drug charges after a Bedford Police officer was flagged down by a female near 8th and X streets on Friday afternoon.
The woman told the officer there was another female in the BMV parking lot in a green Blazer using a needle to inject drugs.
The officer went to the BMV parking lot and located 55-year-old Sherel Bell, of Highland, TX.
Bell told police she was not injecting drugs but did notice a woman watching her. She told police there was nothing in the vehicle and gave permission to the officer to search the vehicle.
Bell exited the vehicle and then dumped her purse on the passenger seat saying it would be easier for police to search the contents.
In the contents police found a metal container with a broken glass smoking device containing meth residue.
She told the officer someone had planted that evidence in her purse.
Bell was arrested on charges of possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
