MITCHELL – A new tree identification trail has been developed and signed with 15 identification signs with the name and a few facts about various local trees in the park.
The tree identification signs are located on Trail 8, located across from the Grissom Memorial, which is paved and fully accessible.
Funds for the signage, shown in the above photo at the base of a persimmon tree was funded by the Indiana Park Alliance, a state-wide group that supports Indiana Park projects.
The trail was a project of the Friends of Spring Mill State Park to improve the experience for park visitors. Sheree Belt, Park Naturalist, worked with the group to develop the messaging.
