James Edward “Bud” Hart, 76, of Mitchell, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born September 14, 1944, Daviess County, he was the son of Chester Paul and Olive (Yarbough) Hart. He married Alverta Sue (Goad) Conley on September 19, 1981.
Bud retired from the Jay-C Food Store and was a graduate of Shoals High School. He was a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church and Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM. Bud enjoyed going to church, fishing, being outside, and loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Alverta Hart of Mitchell; children, Sharon (Junior) Nixon of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Jamie (Marty) Edwards of Mitchell, Gerald (Marlene) Hart of Bowling Green, Kentucky; step-children, Bill (Julie) Conley of Lebanon; Cheryl (Mat) Hardman of Mitchell; grandchildren, Ciera (Zach), Nick, Kelsey, Cole (Miranda), Sean, Addyson (Levi), Lauren, Clay, and Annsli; five great-grandchildren; siblings Freida (David) Ricker of Shoals,
Shirley Bauernfeind of Shoals, Barbara Payne of Shoals, Joe (Connie) Hart of Loogootee, Danny (Onnie) Hart of Loogootee and Brenda (Garney) Boyd of Shoals.
His father, Chester Paul Hart; mother Olive Jones; step-father, Merle Jones; and two brothers preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Roger Allen officiating. The burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be conducted by the Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Masks are required.
