Jerry Conrad George, 88, of Bedford, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021, at his home.
Born October 26, 1932, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Homer Marshall and Hazel (Ritchison) George. He married Cloie Ellen (Brown) Stigall on October 9, 1982.
Jerry retired from Duke Energy. He was a carpenter, school bus driver for many years, farmer, barber, and a graduate of Needmore High School. Jerry enjoyed farming and working with horses; he took his Clydesdale horses and wagon to parades and weddings. He enjoyed traveling out west and loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Jerry was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen George of Bedford; children, Jonathan David (Kelly) George of Bedford, Marshall Shane (DeeDee) George of Bedford, Michelle Lyn (Gordon) Ritchey of Bedford, James David George of Bedford; stepchildren, Richard Stigall of Greencastle, Charletta (Steve) Turner of Bedford, Randall (Lana) Stigall of Alabama, Lisa (Bryan) Bailiff of Bedford; stepdaughter- in-law, Julie Stigall of Morgantown; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Deckard of Bedford; several nieces and nephews
His parents and stepson, Mark Stigall, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, at Hillcrest Christian Church Pastor Charles Scott with officiating. The burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.
