SELLERSBURG – Kaleb Sowders scored midway through the second half as Bedford North Lawrence edged Silver Creek 1-0 during boys high school soccer action on Tuesday.
Slogging through a rain-soaked field as the remnants of Hurricane Ida dumped its moisture payload across Southern Indiana, Sowders directed a header – off a corner kick from Billy Cline – into the net with 21:14 left for the game winner as the Stars improved to 3-1-1.
“It was a struggle,” BNL coach Logan Jackson said. “The field was soupy, and we squandered a few chances. They were packing it in defensively, and we got a little frustrated. But it’s a win and we’ll take it.
“Scoring off the reset was huge. We’re worked on free kicks and corners a lot and improved in those areas. That’s a weapon to add.”
BNL will host New Albany on Thursday.
