BEDFORD – Do you have what it takes to be crowned this year’s WQRK Southern Indiana’s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol?
WQRK Southern Indiana’s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol is set to showcase singing talent from the local listening area. The winner of WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol will take home our grand prize package which includes a trophy and cash prize.
This year’s contest will feature two age divisions: YOUTH (10-17) and ADULT (ages 18 and up).
Contestants will audition during our preliminary round and those selected to advance to the finals will perform on Mitchell’s Main Street Stage on Monday, September 20th at 7:30 pm.

The Preliminary Round is Thursday, September 9th from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Mitchell First Church of God in the FMC building located at 405 North 12th Street in Mitchell.
During the preliminary, each contestant will perform their song in front of our judges. Auditions have a closed-door policy; no friends or family members will be allowed into the audition room.
Those contestants chosen to perform on the Main Street Stage will then be contacted by Wednesday, September 15th.

Contestants chosen to advance to the Main Street stage will perform at 7:30 pm on Monday, September 20th. We welcome everyone out to cheer on their favorite performers. WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol is FREE to attend.
The WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol winner from each division (youth and adult) will win the following Grand Prize Package:
- Litefm Persimmon Idol trophy
- $500 cash prize (adult division)
- $100 cash prize (youth division)
WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm Persimmon Idol Rules
- Previous contestants and previous winners may register to compete in the Idol competition again.
- If preforming along with music, contestant will need to provide their own music (on CD) at prelims, no lead vocals on the track will be accepted. Contestant may use and provide their own instrument for accompaniment. Acapella performances are also allowed but not recommended.
- Contestants will need to provide lyrics to the song they will be performing. Please print and be prepared to present these lyrics at the preliminaries
- Maximum song length of 4 minutes
- Music/lyrics must be approved by officials before performance (no explicit language or message); discretion is up to WQRK Southern Indiana‘s Classic Hits & Litefm.
- If under 18, parental consent is needed in order for contestant to perform on Main Street Stage. Waiver will be sent home at prelims. If waiver is not presented with parent or guardian signature day of performance, contestant will not perform/compete.
