MITCHELL – Two Mitchell residents were arrested after Mitchell Police officers went to serve an arrest warrant Thursday.
The warrant stemmed from an incident on August 26, 2021.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched to the 160 block of Dale Street after a request for a welfare check. The caller stated a male who lived at the home could be in possible danger.
The caller stated 55-year-old Sean Edmonds was in possession of a firearm.
When police arrived Sean Edmonds answered the door. Edmonds told police there was a 20-gauge shotgun in his room next to the bed when questioned by the police.
Edmonds was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of a gun by a serious violent felon.
The loaded gun was safely retrieved by an officer.
Sean Edmonds will now face additional charges. On Thursday, September 9, 2021 officers found meth and syringes at his residence when they served an existing outstanding warrant.
When officers arrived at 10:43 p.m. to arrest Sean Edmonds, his wife 44-year-old Kelly Edmonds answered the door. Kelly directed the officers to Sean’s location, the bedroom. Sean was arrested at that time without incident.
While arresting Sean officers found a glass smoking device, syringes, crystal meth, and other drug paraphernalia.
Underneath the mattress officers found a yellow zippered pouch containing a baggie of crystal meth.
Police say Kelly Edmonds began to seize on the scene. She was treated at the scene and refused to be transported to a local hospital by the ambulance on the scene. Kelly then experienced a second seizure and was transported to IU Health Hospital for treatment. Once medically cleared Kelly was safely transported to jail.
Both Sean and Kelly were arrested on charges of possession of meth and unlawful possession of a syringe.
