Delores M. McAlhaney, 89, of Springville, passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
She was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Lawrence County, to Arvel and Eva Mae (Robertson) Brinson. She married Darrel McAlhaney on Nov. 14, 1951, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 2007.
Delores was a graduate of Needmore High School. She had worked at IU Health Bedford and was a member of Avoca Baptist Church since 1950. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was very active in the Ladies Missionary Group.
Surviving to cherish Delores’ memory are her children, Alan (Judy) McAlhaney, Beverly McAlhaney, and Pam (Greg) Rainey; grandchildren, Mindy Rainey and Jennie McAlhaney; great-grandchildren, Brayden Evans, Kylee Rainey, and Jordan McAlhaney; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Delores in death were her parents; husband, Darrel; daughter, Denise McAlhaney; and two brothers, Eugene and Wayne Brinson.
Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Pastor Kenny Adams officiating. The burial will be in Avoca Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
