The Highlanders (9-7) advanced to the championship to face New Albany, which edged Jeffersonville 2-1 in overtime in the first semifinal.
Dakota Bramer had two goals for Floyd, which took a 7-0 lead at the half. Other scorers included Ava Bandy, McKenzie Violette, Torri Troutman, Kendyl Rumple, Morgan Ellis and Ella Fields. Hannah Sakamaki had two assists.
“The girls fought and played hard,” BNL coach Jackie Dufresne said. “We played Floyd much better this time (Floyd also posted a 9-0 win over BNL on Sept. 20). Floyd is an advanced team and unfortunately we couldn’t stop them. These girls have worked hard all season, despite the adversity they have faced. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
The Stars finished with a 0-13-1 record.
