James D. “Howdy” Hatfield age 74 of Bedford passed went to be with Jesus and his family in Heaven on October 22, 2021 at 3:30 a.m. at his residence.
He was born in Oolitic on August 19, 1947 to Corida and Bob Haskett. Howdy loved Jesus and used every opportunity to tell people how good God had been to him. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan; his joy was his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren; he loved his hometown and friends from Oolitic and enjoyed eating breakfast with them every week. He loved all the waitresses that knew him by name and how he like his food. He enjoyed coaching his kids in Baseball, he never met a stranger. If you ever met him, you knew his life history and he knew yours.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Hatfield, his children, Tesa Hatfield Bunch, Darrin (Khanh) Hatfield, Stevie Canada, Jessie (Robb) Corbin and TJ (Carrie) Canada, 18 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cordia (Bob) Haskett, daughter, Cindy Vance, two sisters, Patty Bezy and Mary Taylor.
Cremation was chosen and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date, burial will be in Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville. Cresthaven Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.
