Jackie Leon Fender Sr., 74, of Heltonville, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born September 10, 1947, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Charles and Bernice (Meadows) Fender.
He married Wanda Kinser on November 2, 1972, and she survives.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda; children, Jackie (Jodie) Fender Jr., LaDonna Fender Lee, and Lena (Jason) Gassaway; grandchildren, Dustin Fender, Evan (Kimmy) Martin, Brady Martin, Noah, and Sidney Carlile and fiancé Justice Woods, Elizabeth Lee and fiancé Jathan Howe, Eli Lee, Laken Fender, Braden Baker, Samantha, and Alexandra Gassaway, and Daisy May; great-grandchildren, Lucas Hopper, Elara Elaine Deckard, and Harrison and Vivien Martin; siblings, Charles (Carol) Fender and Rex Allen Fender; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tonya Fender; siblings, Ladona and Carl Eugene Fender and Marnice Prince.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes with Pastor Michael Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow in Meadows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
