BEDFORD – Bedford Revitalization Inc. has received the approval from the Bedford Board of Works, to shut down the downtown area to through traffic for the 2021 Bedford Christmas parade set for December 4th.
The approved road closures for the Christmas Parade include:
- Closing J Street between 16th Street and 15th Street from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Closing M Street between 12th Street from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Closing 15th Street from M Street and O Street from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Closing 16th Street and 15th Street between M Street and I Street from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Businesses that may be affected by the closures will be receiving a notice to inform them about the closures in the next few days.
Downtown retailers and restaurants will be open during their standard business hours on Saturday, December 4th. Additionally, an Open Air Christmas Market will feature vendors on the J Street section of Bedford’s Downtown Square from 2pm to 7pm.
There will also be a live reindeer exhibit set up at Harp Commons from 2pm to 5pm and children can visit with Santa from 3pm to 5pm at Harp Commons, prior to the start of the parade.
At 5:00 p.m. Parade Grand Marshal Clarence Brown will flip the switch for the Lighting of the Tree in Harp Commons from the step in front of the Miss Indiana statue on the east side of the Courthouse square.
If you are interested in registering for the parade you can complete the registration form, which is available online at www.DowntownBedford.org. Registration is open until Monday, November 22nd but late entries will also be accepted. All entries must incorporate Christmas lights into their design for the event.
