WASHINGTON – The Daviess County Museum is the recipient of a $25,000 donation from RTC Communications, Inc. to be put toward its “Access to History” ground floor renovation project.
“Access to History” is a major building project which will transform the east wing of the museum’s ground floor into an all-new space for exhibits and programs which can be reached from street level. There will also be a new work area for museum volunteers to evaluate and care for new artifact donations.
“We are very grateful to receive such generous support from a massively successful local business like RTC Communications,” said Daviess County Historical Society President Doug Dougherty. “It’s an exemplary statement from them to demonstrate how committed they are to the community and its history.”
“We are confident that everyone in the community is going to be amazed by this project and the effect it will have on the museum and downtown Washington,” added DCHS Vice-President Bruce Smith. “Support from our partners like RTC Communications makes these large-scale projects possible for us.”
Preliminary work on “Access to History” is already underway and will take place over three phases. In addition to the work on the 1500 square foot east wing, there will also be a revamped entryway to the museum and important maintenance to the building’s facade.
