ORLEANS – Orleans Chamber of Commerce officials have received official confirmation from the North Pole that Santa Claus will be arriving in Orleans on Saturday for the Annual Christmas on the Square event.
The jolly old elf is expected to arrive in downtown Orleans around 5 p.m. riding in the historic 1926 Peter Pirsch firetruck due to the lack of snow.
Area boys and girls will be able to visit with Santa afterward on the town’s picturesque 1926 Bandstand. Members of the Orleans Municipal Fire and Police Department will also be on hand to assist with Santa’s annual visit.
As an extra treat, Santa has brought his special mailbox from the North Pole to Orleans so children can drop off their “Postcards for Santa.” The free Santa postcards will be available inside the Chamber’s Visitor Center Saturday night and can be dropped into Santa’s Mailbox, which is located in front of the Chamber office, on the north side of the town square.
