Elizabeth Burgess, 83, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021, at I.U. Health Hospice House.
Liz was born on August 29, 1938, in Martin County. She attended Crossroads Community Church. She retired from W. F. Meyers and went on to serve on the Lawrence County Housing Authority for many years.
Liz loved her family more than life itself but loved God even more and instilled her love for God in her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Vida (Cornwell) Bridges; stepfather, Bruno Erdmann; brothers, Winfred (Bud) Bridges and his wife Bonnie, Ray Bridges and his wife, Dorothy and Ralph Bridges; her sister, Marie Flynn, and her husband George; a great-grandson, Benjamin Perry; great-granddaughters, Kaitlynn Burgess, Addison, and Alannah Burgess.
She is survived by her children, Sherry, Bradley, and wife Tammy of Mitchell, Kevin Burgess, brother, Donald
Bridges; sister, Sherry Peck, and husband Ronnie and sister-in-law, Kathy Bridges; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, nine nieces and 10 nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 18th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Tim Magnus officiating.
Burial will follow in Lowder Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Saturday at the mortuary.
