Virginia Sue Godsey gained her Angel Wings on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at her residence with her husband of 63 years, Denzil “Ray” Godsey at her side. Sue or “Bundy” as many people called her, married the love of her life, Denzil Ray Godsey on October 4, 1958.
Sue has five children, Anthony Lee Godsey, Denzil Ray (Cathy) Godsey, Jr., Teresa Lynn Godsey-Ault, Edgar David (Gina) Godsey and Stephan Eric (Jeana) Godsey. She was preceded in death by her chosen son, William H. “Billy” Tincher. She has 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Sue was the daughter of Edward Clinton Bundy, Sr., and Francis Madeline Cochran Bundy. She has two brothers, Gerald K. Summitt and Ronald “Randy” Summitt. She was proceded in death by four sisters, Kay Francis Saunders, Betty Jean Little, Victoria S. Tabor and Rose Marie Davis.
Sue was a very loving and compassionate woman who always put her family first. She loved to sing in church and considered Burgoon Baptist Church her home church. She was always quick to greet you with her beautiful smile and kind words. Everyone who knew her, loved her.
Viewing will be Friday, December 17, 2021, starting at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Burgoon Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. that day. Pastor and her brother-in-law, Rev. Harold Godsey, will conduct the services with burial immediately following at Burgoon Baptist Church Cemetery.
