WEST BADEN SPRINGS – Huron Volunteer Fire Department Firefighters assisted in extinguishing a large field fire in Orange County Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters from Orange County Rural District 1 and 2, the US Forestry Service, and Orleans Fire and Rescue responded.
Orange County fire departments were alerted to the fire at 12:10 p.m. and then requested tanker support.
At 12:41 p.m. local firefighters from both Huron and Marion Township were requested to assist. Marion Township was then alerted they were not needed.
The property owner reported his outbuilding and the nearby woods were on fire in the 7300 block of Vincennes Road.
The outbuildings were destroyed and around two acres were damaged by fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
