Hubert Roland “Peanut” Atchison, 78, of Mitchell, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021, at his residence.
Born August 26, 1943, in Bryantsville, he was the son of Hubert and Georgie (White) Atchison.
Peanut was a carpenter and had been a member of the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 250, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, and Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club. Peanut attended Huron School and was a member of Bryantsville Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting mushrooms and had many friends.
Survivors include his sister, Dorothy M. (Don) Carroll of Mitchell
His parents and brothers, Kenneth Atchison, John Atchison, and James “Otto” Atchison, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, at the Bryantsville Church of Christ Cemetery with Brother Jerry Allen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
