BEDFORD – Lawrence County is hosting a Red Cross Blood drive on Thursday, Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the former Department of Child Services office in Courthouse Plaza.
“I encourage all county elected officials, department heads, and employees to please volunteer for this great cause as there is a major shortage of blood currently,” said Human Resource Director Brain Skillman.
Treasurer Jody Edwards shared how she wished she could thank the persons who donated the four pints of blood that saved her daughter’s life. Her daughter hemorrhaged after giving birth to her son.
“She would not have survived,” said Edwards. “I will never know who donated those four pints of blood. But I thank them from the bottom of my heart.”
County officials or employees who donate blood on January 20th will receive a 25 percent discount from Buffalo Wings & Rings from Jan. 20 – Jan. 27. Employees just need to show their name tag provided by the Red Cross to receive the discount at Buffalo Wings & Rings.
