BEDFORD – Two people were sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction by Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline Thursday after failing to comply with the terms of their probation.
Nichole R. Hayden, 49, Hartford City, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, in September, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. She was originally sentenced to 910 days, with time served, and the remainder of her sentence suspended. She was ordered to serve a year on supervised probation in exchange for her guilty plea.
However, Hayden was arrested a couple of weeks later in Delaware County for possession of methamphetamine, which revoked her probation in Lawrence County. Because of that probation violation, Cline sentenced Hayden to 800 days in the Indiana Department of Correction.
Jared S. Lentz, 32, Mitchell, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, in November 2019, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. He was originally sentenced to 910 days, with time served, and the remainder of his sentence suspended. He was ordered to serve a year on supervised probation in exchange for the guilty plea.
However, after failing to comply with the terms of his probation, Lentz appeared in front of Cline, who sentenced him to a 780-day prison sentence.
“When individuals fail to follow the terms of probation, they know the consequences of their actions, and in this case, it’s prison,” said Lawrence County Deputy Prosecutor Rosie Ripley, who represented the State of Indiana through the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office.
