Harold Ray Thomas, 76, of Loogootee, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.
Born August 22, 1945, in Plainville, Indiana, he was the son of Melvin and Evelyn (Rice) Thomas. Harold married Barbara Johnson-McPherson on June 10, 2000, and she survives. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Church; a veteran of the United States Army; retired from Jasper Engine, and was a self-employed mechanic.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Johnson-McPherson) Thomas; step-children, Twila (Jeff Wildman) Coldiron, Jimmy (Barb Spurgeon) McPherson, Weldon (Tara) McPherson, John (Marilyn) McPherson, and Bonnie (Eddie Diamond) Hupp; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; siblings, Margaret (Max) Printice, Ray (Debbie) Littlefield, Rex (Julie) Thomas, and Garold (Betty) Thomas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Ellen Thomas.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the Mt. Zion Church in Loogootee with Pastor Caleb Moffatt officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Queen-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday at the Mt. Zion Church.
Memorial contributions may be made in Harold’s memory to the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
