HOPE – Hope the Groundhog will make an appearance on Wednesday, Feb. 2nd at 8 a.m. to let us know if there will be six more weeks of winter.
The staff and volunteers at Utopia Wildlife Rehabilitators have already begun to get Hope ready for her big day. She has been moved inside and is being handled regularly in preparation for the prognostication celebration. This will be Hope’s second year on the job.
The festivities will return to the square this year and take place in front of the bandstand. Former Grubby’s Groupies will not want to miss the short tribute to Grubby that will open this year’s celebration. Grubby was euthanized about three weeks after Hope took the reins last year. Her advanced age and an inoperable dental condition called odontoma led to the decision to humanely end her suffering. Thank you Grubby for your many years of service.
This event is sponsored by Main Street of Hope and Utopia Wildlife Rehabilitators. Donations to help fund Utopia’s mission may be made at their website by clicking on the yellow “donate” button in the upper right-hand corner.
