BEDFORD – Two men were arrested Tuesday when Bedford Police officers were called to an apartment in the 630 block of Riley Boulevard after a report of an unresponsive female.
According to a probable cause affidavit, when police arrived they found the female and a male 20-year-old Shane Kern, of Williams, standing on the porch. They told police the female had suffered a seizure and was briefly unconscious. Officers reported the female was extremely lethargic and was possibly under the influence of drugs.
The woman told police she had smoked marijuana.
Officers asked if there was anyone else in the apartment and the woman said her roommate 22-year-old Austin Tincher, of Orleans was inside.
When the female opened the apartment door officers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence.
Officers did a protective sweep of the apartment and found drug paraphernalia in plain view.
The woman was treated at the scene by an IU LifeLine ambulance crew. Kern told police he was sure the female had “gotten into his coke”.
Officers then requested a search warrant for the apartment.
During the search, officers found approximately 14.07 grams of cocaine, 8.30 grams of fentanyl, a large amount of marijuana in the sum of approximately 719 grams, and 15 jars that contained marijuana wax. They also found a combined total of 411 grams of psilocybin edibles, meth, and numerous pills.
Police also found digital scales, plastic bags, vacuum seal bags, and a sealer along with two digital money counters, and two large safes.
Additionally, officers located a Masterpiece Arms 9mm pistol containing a black magazine loaded with 17, 9mm bullets. Also, a total of $20,236 in cash was located within a room believed to be Tincher’s, and $192 in a room believed to be Kern’s.
Tincher told the police all of the items including the drugs belonged to him.
Police arrested both Tincher and Kern on charges of dealing and possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug over 10 grams while in possession of a firearm, dealing and possession of a controlled substance over 28 grams while in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, dealing and possession of marijuana over 30 grams while in possession of a firearm, possession of meth while in possession of a firearm, money laundering, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
