ORANGE CO. – Due to the winter storm that has entered and remains active in the Orange REMC service territory, at approximately 11:40 a.m. 68 members were without power, of those 67 of the 68 outages were located along State Road 37, south of Paoli. The outage was dues to a tree that fell across the powerline.
Crews were on-site and estimate restoral of service by 12:30 p.m.
There is one outage along Tater Road near the intersection with Fox Hunter Road. Service was estimated to be restored at this location by 12:45 p.m.
There were also outages in Fargo, along Unionville Road and along State Road 37 south to Beach Grove just North of Valeene. These outages have been restored.
Fiber service has been interrupted in the Unionville Road area as the same tree that interrupted power also broke fiber. There are two members currently without fiber service.
So far, this storm has been responsible for two broken poles which have been repaired or made safe.
For those that are without power, the REMC asks for patience as our crews restore power. Orange County REMC will work around the clock until every member is turned back on and will respond if outages occur in the future.
Any Orange County REMC member who is without service and has not reported their outage is encouraged to call and report the outage at 812-865-2229.
Please remember to be safe and to always treat a line that is down as energized, never approach it. Report all such situations to the REMC.
