Russell Lee Beasley, 85, of Mithell, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, at his home. He was a man of God and loved his family fiercely.
Born January 15, 1937, in Mitchell, he was the son of Fred and Esther Mae (Winkler) Beasley. He married Garnet “Sue” Miller on July 6, 1956, and they were married for 65 years.
Russell worked 24 years at Carpenter Body Works, retired from Lehigh Cement Company, and was also a farmer. He graduated in 1954 from Mitchell High School. On September 9, 1947, he became a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church and was the longest living active member.
Survivors include his wife, “Sue” Beasley of Mitchell; daughters, Cheryl Lynn (Michael) Cheatham of Orleans; Kelly Lee (Hollace) Chastain of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Lucas Cheatham, Lindsey Eck, Raelynn Chastain, and Chase Chastain; four great-grandchildren
His parents; brother, Charles Edward Beasley; and twin sister, Moyne Imogene Powell, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Williams and Reverend Wade Judy officiating. The burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.
