BLOOMINGTON – Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.
Monroe County Community School Corporation schools have been celebrating in many ways all month.
At Binford Elementary, Stacy Calderon, an art teacher, created table cards with iconic figures for students to read and learn in the cafeteria during lunch.
Also, each classroom designed and created its classroom door. The students came up with ideas and helped the teacher decorate them.
