INDIANA – Schneck Medical Center in Seymour and Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper has been named one of the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in the nation by the Chartis Center for Rural Health.
That’s based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance in the United States, according to a news release from the Seymour hospital.
Schneck Medical Center and Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center were two of only five hospitals in Indiana named to the list.
The others include:
- Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville
- King’s Daughters’ Health in Madison
- Marion General Hospital in Marion
The hospitals named to this list excel in managing risk, achieving higher quality, securing better outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction, and operating at a lower cost than their peers.
“Despite unprecedented adversity brought about by the rural hospital closure crisis, diminishing access to services, nurse staffing shortages, and COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, rural providers continue to display resiliency and a steadfast commitment to their communities,” said Michael Topchik, national leader of the Chartis Center for Rural Health. “We are delighted to recognize the exceptional performance and innovation of this year’s recipients, particularly in light of the extraordinary challenges facing America’s rural health safety net.
