BEDFORD – The 28th Annual Ham and Bean supper sponsored by the Ladies of Grace Full Gospel Church saw community members come together to support the Christmas Toy Drive put on by the church in December.
“We have always put out Christmas baskets to families who need it in Lawrence County and we also provide a week’s worth of groceries for families as well as the toys for the children. So this money goes towards more than just a singular thing,” said Grace Full Gospel Church Pastor Brent O’Neal.
COVID-19 caused a lot of Churches and businesses to miss out on regular numbers and attendees, but with a big turnout at Saturday’s event Pastor O’Neal was able to remain busy.
“It’s hard to tell how many people came today, and last year was slow because of COVID-19, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we were back to our normal numbers of 300 to 500 people coming by to eat some good food.”
The Church puts on other events throughout the year and hosts the Christmas fundraiser early in the year to spread the opportunities to help the community throughout the year.
“We have other events throughout the year like our chili supper, a yard sale, and a craft bazaar that we have to space out throughout the to ensure that the community has the opportunity to help in other areas,” O’Neal said.
Grace Full Gospel Church will begin preparations for their June yard sale which will also go towards supporting families in Lawrence County around Christmas time.
