BLOOMINGTON – The Monroe County YMCA will host its annual Spring Run/Walk 5K on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
The event raises funds for the Y for All Annual Campaign, which helps support families and individuals who need financial assistance with their Y membership, programs, and Summer Camp fees. Participants who register by March 22 will receive lower entry fees ($25 per Y member/$30 per non-member) and an official race t-shirt. Entry fees increase by $5 after March 22.
Sponsored by The Herald-Times, Greene & Schultz Trial Lawyers, Bloomington Pediatric Dentistry, and Meineke Car Care, the race will start at 8:00 am and finish at the top of the Y parking lot near the soccer fields and shelter house. Prizes will be awarded to top participants for each age group. The Y is also bringing back the Family & Kids Fun Run after a two-year hiatus. Starting at 9:00 am, participants will run one lap around the paved Northwest Y trail (0.9 miles).
The Fun Run is open to children ages three and older – kids can run alongside their parents, siblings, and friends. Fun surprises will be featured along the trail, plus all participants will receive a certificate and shirt (if registered by
March 22). For the Fun Run, participants can register for only $5 per participant before March 22; $10 per
participant after March 22.
Y Healthy Hearts & Active Lives Director Margie Kobow says, “We are looking forward to kicking off the spring season together and supporting a great cause. This is a chance for families to spend the morning being active and having fun together!” Visit MonroeCountyYMCA.org/Spring-Run to learn more and register for the event.
