Terry Sanders, 73, of Bedford, passed away at 11:14 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born June 2, 1948, he was the son of Paul and Bonnie (Peters) Sanders. He married Pauline Bell on October 30, 1970, and she survives. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years of service. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2 of Bedford and served as the DAV State Commander for two terms. He was past commander of V.F.W. Post #9107 of Mitchell, and member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion, FRA Fleet Reserve Assoc., Bedford Masonic Lodge 14, and F.O.P. #172 of Mitchell. Terry was a recipient of both the Kentucky Colonel and Indiana Saginaw of the Wabash award for his distinguished work on behalf of military veterans
Survivors included his wife, Pauline, of Bedford; a son, Travis Wayne Sanders, and wife, Denise; a daughter, Ginger Dodge, and husband, Danny, of CO; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Sanders, and wife, Carol, of Bedford; a sister, Krista Sipples and husband, Paul, of Batesville, IN; a step-brother, Mike Leslie, of TN and a step-sister, Lisa Webb and husband, Mike, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Sanders, and a son, Eric (in infancy).
A celebration of life will start at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 21 st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter
Mortuary. Interment will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded by members of Gillen
Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday at the Day & Carter
Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Disabled American Veterans Chapter #2 of Bedford.
