BEDFORD – The Bedford Parks Department has announced their upcoming spring schedule for 2022 during their Tuesday meeting.
Parks Director Jimmy Jones provided project updates to the board including:
- Tree removal and stump grinding continues at Otis Golf Course
- Fence replacement at Murray Forest Park is almost complete
- The Agape House Golf Tournament has been tabled to clarify dates and times of the event
The father/daughter dance last Friday, was a success thanks to Clair Roub of Sound Sational DJ Services, Magic Morning Bakery, and Kore Photography, with a total of 432 tickets were sold for the annual event.
Additional programs and opportunities:
- Otis Park Summer Junior Golf Camp, Leagues, and Tournament are now open for registration.
- Bedford Parks Department is accepting job applications for lifeguards and cashiers to work at the pool this summer. Must be 15 years of age to apply. You can complete the application online or in-person at the parks office.
- Square Dancing Lessons are available beginning March 28, 2022, at Wilson Park Shelter House from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Cost is $72 for a 12-person class. Contact Bedford Parks Department at 812-275-5692 or Janet Lewis at 812-498-0001 for any questions.
- There will be a Spring Break Art Camp from March 21-March 24 for ages 5-18 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost is $20 a child and will take place at Thornton Memorial Park. Each day the children will work on art projects, they will be provided snacks/drinks, and have the opportunity for active play each day. The art projects include Canvas art, Ceramics, wood, and more.
The Otis Park Red Brick Project continues to move forward as planned, and an Open House will be held to celebrate the renovation once it has been completed. There is no current timeline as to when the project will be finished.
