Bedford Housing Authority approves resolutions and provides Section 8/ HCV updates

BEDFORD – The Bedford Housing Authority met in their regular meeting Thursday afternoon, and approved resolutions and provided updates to their Section 8/HCV.

As per state requirements, the Section 8/HCV U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires an inspection of the properties every three years.

The original date for inspection was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and has been rescheduled for March 21st and 22nd, 2022. Housing Director Bobbie Ames alerted residents of the upcoming inspection so that they ensure the proper protocols are being followed.

Additionally, the housing authority approved two resolutions for the charge of rent from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2023, and the operating budget.

Ames has requested the operating budget be increased by three percent to $321,978 to be used for updates and upgrades to the housing authority properties. This resolution was approved by the board.

Lastly, Director Ames will be taking a vacation in April and will have newly hired Intake coordinator Lindsey Hughes fill in and take notes during the April board meeting.

In response to Hughes stepping in, Ames has been training her on what needs to be done during this time away. The board was not required to approve this as a motion but approved the fill-in for the April meeting.
