LAWRENCE COUNTY – For twelve community members of Lawrence County, obtaining their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma seemed like an unobtainable dream as the “traditional” class style could take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
The Lawrence County Economic Growth Council (LCEGC) has offered a fast-paced, 3-day “boot camp” class and the response was incredible. Twelve students took the qualifying pre-test that included: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies at the StoneGate Arts & Education Center on March 10, 2022.
Participants were sent home with some skills practice worksheets. The first HSE boot camp, sponsored by Duke Energy, will be held March 24-26th.
